Frequently asked questions
Common questions about cross-state recovery, compliance, and how JumpTracer fits your agency.
- What is JumpTracer?
- JumpTracer is a cross-state fugitive-recovery platform for bail-bond agencies. It combines a shared national registry, facial-recognition identity matching, anti-double-bonding alerts, defendant check-ins, re-arrest monitoring, and built-in e-signatures so agencies can recover bail jumpers across state lines from one place.
- How does cross-state fugitive tracking work?
- Defendant records live in a shared registry rather than a single agency's local files. When a defendant is bonded, located, or re-arrested anywhere on the platform, the agency that originally bonded them is notified — so a jumper can't quietly resurface in another state.
- Does JumpTracer prevent double-bonding?
- When a bond is posted, JumpTracer checks for active bonds on the same defendant from other agencies or states and alerts everyone involved. That makes it far harder for a defendant to be bonded out in two places at once.
- Is facial recognition for bail bonds legal?
- It depends on the state. JumpTracer applies a state-by-state biometric posture: facial-recognition features are disabled in states that prohibit them and require recorded written consent in states that demand it — enforced for both the agency's state and the defendant's jurisdiction. This is a compliance control, not legal advice; consult counsel for your jurisdictions.
- How is sensitive data like SSNs protected?
- Social Security numbers and dates of birth are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM. SSNs are matched through a keyed blind index rather than stored in the clear, and sensitive actions are written to an append-only audit log.
- Can individual bounty hunters use JumpTracer?
- Yes. There is an individual plan for licensed recovery agents that includes registry access within their jurisdiction, cross-state alerts, a watchlist, and the ability to confirm pickups that notify the originating agency.
- Does JumpTracer replace my bail-bond management software, e-sign tool, and check-in app?
- That's the goal. JumpTracer brings case management, defendant check-ins and court reminders, re-arrest monitoring, and e-signatures into one platform, so you can consolidate several separate subscriptions.
- How do defendant check-ins work?
- An agency schedules a check-in and the defendant receives a secure link — no account needed. The defendant submits a check-in with an optional selfie that is verified against their enrolled photo (where biometrics are permitted) and optional location, and the agency is notified of the result.
- How does payment processing work for bail services?
- Mainstream processors generally prohibit bail-related transactions, so production billing uses a specialized high-risk payment provider rather than a standard gateway. During the pilot, contact us about plan options.
- Is JumpTracer available in my state?
- The platform is available broadly, but specific features adapt to local law — biometric matching in particular is disabled or consent-gated in certain states. Create an account or contact us to confirm what's available where you operate.
